We Dig Boys Volleyball

image

Our Boys Volleyball team has been taking the sport by storm. Taylor Ho, junior and captain of the team, came to Mr. Scheller with the idea for a team before school began in order to practice in the off-season of his club team. “My favorite part about this team is seeing how kids with no volleyball experience drastically improve in just a couple of weeks,” said Taylor. The team is filled with guys eager to learn more about and improve in the sport, as well as win their games. “It’s not as easy as other people would think it is,” said Alejandro Alvarez Zamora, a sophomore. The team practices Monday through Thursday after school.

“To get all the controversy straight, volleyball is NOT a girls’ sport. We are in one of the only high school districts that does not have a boys’ volleyball league,” said Taylor. Many times, games are played against private schools who already have an established team. “Gender shouldn’t matter when it comes to sports,” said Alejandro.

“I’m hoping that this program continues to develop in further years and I encourage more guys to come tryout next year,” said Taylor.
