Lady Bearcats Hit The Pool

SHETwaterpoloOur Lady Bearcats are back in the deep end for another intense water polo season. In five years, the team has gone from nine to 20 players.

They’re aggressive and physical, but they also define sportsmanship, camaraderie, and the principle that winning isn’t everything.

The team is practicing twice as hard to reach the level they need to be at for the upcoming season.

Why play water polo? “It’s a challenge. I always like challenges,” says Tara Nash, one of four veteran players.

New player, Caroline Zhu just “wanted to try a new sport”.

Most of the members have experience being a part of a San Mateo or club team, but they still push themselves to improve through swimming continuous laps, doing daunting drills, and playing scrimmages.

The Girls Water Polo team might not be the most well known team on campus, but they all are amazing athletes. This team shows true teamwork both in and out of the pool.

Come support the Lady Bearcats on September 29 in their game against Menlo at 2:00 PM in San Mateo High School.
