The Lady Bearcats Hit The Court

By: Maya Angel

Our lady bearcats are jumping into action for an all new season of intensive volleyball. These girls have been practicing for weeks. Although their first game was cancelled, they are still hyped up to what they got this year.

For a lot of new players this is there first time playing. Freshman, Jada Walker joined the JV volleyball team “because it’s fun and I have always wanted to play.” Even though this is not her favorite sport, she still enjoys bringing the pressure to our rivals.

Along with a whole week of tryouts after school, summer clinics were held to get ready for the season. A number of girls showed up to the summer clinics, which helped them later form a strong team.

In volleyball practices, they do a variety of things including: serving, hitting, passing and finally playing scrimmages ”My favorite part of volley ball is hitting,” said Jada.

These student athletes show true sportsmanship among each other both in and out of the court. This will lead to an exciting season of hard work, compassion and teamwork.

Bearcats bring the spirit with bright orange home jerseys ready to bring their game.

Luckily, there will be other chances for games in the future, and hopefully there will be many home games. The girls are confident they can bring the win to SMHS.

The season will be full of fun and victories so make sure to support the JV and varsity volleyball teams. Go Bearcats!
