Trainer to Teacher Matt Labbie

Mr. Labbie coaches weight training and is a new PE teacher at SMHS.

Name: Matt Labbie

Favorite part about teaching: “My favorite part about teaching is just working with different students everyday – everyday is different. Also helping people and making their High School experience a good one.”

Goals for the year: “My goal for this year is to get really involved on campus and help out any way I can: coach a team, coach the strength and conditioning program, help out in athletics, in rallies if anybody needs me – anywhere I can help and just get really involved in the school.”

Why SMHS: “I went here for four years and was here as a trainer for three years so this’ll be my 8th year here. “Why San Mateo” is an easy question I mean, my parents went here, I went here and this is the best school in the world. There’s nowhere else I’d rather be.”

If you had one superpower, what would it be: “It’d be to mind-read so that I’m able to tell what all my students really want. Everybody is too shy to actually say, you know, if they have a question. Everytime I say “is there any questions” nobody raises their hand. So it’d be to mind-read so that I can tell if people actually have questions.”

Favorite TV show: “My favorite TV show is The Office.”

Favorite sports team: “I can’t pick one because during baseball season my favorite is the Giants, during football season it’s the 49ers and during basketball season it’s the Warriors.”

Who is your Dream date: “Ms. Dickson!”
