Varsity Girls’ Basketball Hoops it Up

JesusVarsityBasketball91The Girls varsity Basketball team started off the season on December 8th, where they played against Leigh High School at the King’s Academy tournament and beat them 44-33. This game was the rematch from game 2 of the 2016 CCS playoffs where Leigh High school beat San Mateo 56-43.

The game was fast-paced, and the game was tied at 21 during the half time. The Bearcats only gave Leigh High school four points in the third quarter. The Bearcats’ offense, on the other hand, scored nine points in the third quarter.

Alyssa Cho and Mimi Shen led the team to a 32-23, and with three minutes left in the game, the bearcats finished strong, with a score of 44-33.

The Bearcats played Sacred Heart Prep the next day, on December ninth. The Bearcats were startled after the first quarter, when the score was 20-4. Things changed a bit in the second quarter. The Bearcats scored eighteen points in the second quarter, making the score 31-22.

Despite the resilience of the bearcats, Sacred Heart Prep took home the victory, with a score of 35-57.

The Girls played the Aragon Dons the next day, Saturday December 10th, at Aragon. This was the Bearcats’ third and last game of the King’s Academy tournament.

Almost halfway through the game, the Dons were winning 22-9, when the Bearcats started to fight. Despite the many efforts of the team, the bearcats lost 33-43.

The Girls Varsity Basketball team play El Cerrito High School on December thirteenth at 7 o’clock at SMHS. Come and support the Bearcats!
