New Habitable Planets Discovered by NASA

New planets have been discovered and are about 39 light years away from Earth. But these newly-discovered planets aren’t just normal planets. People might be able to live on them. That’s right, on February 22, 2017, NASA discovered not just one, but three planets, which can be used as another place in which people can live in.

This amazing discovery made many people happy and hope that maybe one day it will be the human civilization’s second home, or in any case, our new home. The reason why these chain of planets’ living condition is so amazing for an average human being is because of their temperatures. They usually have the constant temperature of 30 to 40 degrees celsius. The reason behind this perfect condition is that the planets have their own star that is very similar to the sun, TRAPPIST-1. The planets rotate around the sun very quickly, a normal year in one of the planets, planet e, is about 3 days.

On the other hand, some people are very skeptical about these planets. A scientist named Vladimir Airapetian says that the star of the planets is very dangerous, he says, “… we know this red dwarf stars generate a lot of X-ray and extreme ultraviolet emissions at the habitable zones of exoplanets through frequent flares and stellar storms.” Some scientists don’t believe that the informations presented by NASA are strong enough. There are a few facts that proves that the planets are pretty dangerous and not habitable. One of the reason is because many scientists believe that the atmosphere of the planets are toxic due to deadly microparticles providing toxic air.

With the newfound solar system being about 40 light years away, scientists are quickly making a plan in order to see if life exists on these planets. These planets might also be a backup plan just in case something happens to our planet. SMHS freshman Brandon Yermash is really amazed and hopeful by this stunning discovery “I really hope that these planets do not fail us; Earth is dying and we need to find a way to survive and this might be a good idea. In the future, I hope that human civilization will be supported by these planets.”
