Gordon Hayward Injured

The 2017 NBA offseason has been one of the craziest ones yet. It is a time for teams to purchase essential players for their squad. Some of the biggest names in the game have been traded this offseason such as Paul George, Carmelo Anthony, Kyrie Irving, Chris Paul, Isaiah Thomas, and Gordon Hayward. The NBA draft is also a way for teams in pull in new, promising players for building their franchise. Many players who are predicted to be stars on a new team get injured in the beginning of their season, causing them to miss whole season.

One of these examples is a player on the Celtics named Gordon Hayward. On October 17, 2017, Hayward went up for an alley-oop(pass near the basket and the player catches it and lays it into the basket), and was challenged by Cavaliers player, Lebron James. Landing awkwardly on the ground, Hayward twisted his ankle and it was came to reality that the Celtics’ season was going to change drastically. Hayward was quickly wrapped in a cast and rushed of the court.

The afterward analysis of Gordon Hayward’s injury was a broken Tibia, not fully analyzed yet. Online, many fellow basketball stars and others were making a hashtag #PrayForHayward. Players such as Lebron James spoke out saying, “It’s such a horrible sight seeing a fellow player go down like that.” Just getting traded from the Utah Jazz, Gordon’s arrival to Boston was a huge event for the Celtics fans. His fine-toned skills would have been a great asset for the Celtics roster, as the goal for Boston was to have a championship run with new assets such as Kyrie Irving and Jayson Tatum. With such talent, the celtics should be fine, but Hayward will definitely slow down the success of the Boston Celtics.
