The Van Jones Show:Jay-Z

Over the years, political news anchors have become powerful figures in nationwide broadcasts. People like Anderson Cooper and Christiane Amanpour have evolved CNN (Cable News Network) into a mainstream channel that receives 821,000 viewers each day. One of the most famous hosts, Anthony Van Jones, has introduced his new show, “The Van Jones Show.”

Starting off his show on January 27th, Van Jones took a bold start at inviting his first guest. His first guest was the iconic world-famous rapper, Jay-Z. Jay-Z and Van Jones talk about the struggles of women. According to CNN, Jay-Z talks about racism, stereotypes, family problems and relationships in his recent album “4:44”.. Other artists such as Beyonce, Frank Ocean, and Damian Marley guested in the album, making it very open and social while producing. As the show escalated into the political aspect, our current U.S president, Donald Trump. Trump tweeted out on Twitter,”Somebody please inform Jay-Z that because of my policy, Black Unemployment has just been reported to be at the LOWEST RATE EVER RECORDED!” This statement caught the attention of Van Jones, and Van Jones tweeted out to Trump saying that he has informed Jay-Z and the response was powerful on his show. This is just an example of how free Van Jones is to respond on his show.

The Van Jones Show is televised once a month, and each episode features political movements through the eyes of people and celebrities. “The Van Jones Show” will be a powerful show in the following months, as Van Jones is giving himself a chance for free speech, and not being criticized face to face.
