The Black Panther Review

The highly anticipated movie, The Black Panther, finally came out on February 16, 2018. Chadwick Boseman dons the Black Panther suit and plays the character  T’challa of Wakanda. The movie focuses on T’challa whose many enemies are trying to claim T’challa’s rightful place as king of Wakanda. The movie was directed by Ryan Coogler, who set the record for the most budget given to an African-American director by a studio. Aside from Chadwick Boseman, the movie stars Michael B. Jordan and Lupita Nyong’o.  Michael B Jordan is a great actor, previously starring in movies such as Creed and Fruitvale Station. Lupita Nyong’o was a member of last year’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi and The Jungle Book.

So far, the movie exceeded its movie budget of $200 million and made $520 million just after 2 weeks. The rating of the movie is also very good, having an IMDB score of 7.7/10 and a 98% score on Rotten Tomatoes. In my personal opinion, I think the movie is very good but a bit overrated. I don’t think it deserves a 98% on Rotten Tomatoes and on par with movies such as The Godfather and Zootopia. I think it’s really on par with Captain America: Civil War but a little bit better. In conclusion, I think everyone should watch the movie is very good but they shouldn’t be disappointed when it doesn’t exceed their expectation.
