Instagram-Worthy Desserts of San Francisco

The city of San Francisco is truly the place to be. With its historic landmarks, eclectic neighborhoods and the diversity of its people, The City by the Bay has something for everyone. San Francisco is also a Instagrammer foodie’s dream; it is home to a multitude of dessert shops and cafes. Here are some of the most Instagrammable and over the top desserts you can find in the city.

Nestled on a street lined with pastel buildings is Home SF, a quaint cafe serving up coffee and baked goods in Outer Richmond. One of their most famous drinks is the Birthday Cake Latte, which was featured on the Food Network article “The Best Rainbow Foods.” The drink is a vanilla latte with hazelnut syrup, condensed milk and topped off with rainbow latte art and sprinkles. Home SF is also known for their unique lattes, including the Red Velvet Latte, Cookie Monster Latte and the Nutella Latte, all of which feature latte art. With its creative drinks, marble tabletops and amazing photo opportunities, Home Cafe is the one of the newest and trendiest cafes in San Francisco.

In Japantown, visitors routinely line up at Uji Time, a sweet shop famous for their Japanese fusion style desserts. They are known for their photogenic ice cream cones which are based on taiyaki, a popular street-vendor snack in Japan. Taiyaki are fish-shaped cakes made with batter and filled with sweet red bean filling. Uji Time’s version takes the Japanese dessert to the next level; their taiyaki cakes are stuffed with soft serve ice cream. The regular soft serve flavors offered are black sesame, tofu and matcha, but Uji Time regularly features seasonal flavors, which have included honey lavender and purple sweet potato in the past. There are other desserts available here as well, such as ice cream parfaits and mochi ice cream.

Our last stop is Belly Good Cafe & Crepes, also located in SF’s Japantown. Belly Good offers a variety of desserts and boba drinks, but it’s their adorable animal faced crepes that make them stand out. Customers can build their own crepe by choosing from a variety of fruit, toppings and ice cream flavors, and watch the crepe-maker assemble it with a character face. Characters range from Pikachus to bears to rabbits, all fashioned with chocolate chips, cereal pieces and whipped cream. Belly Good Cafe is the perfect place to satisfy your sweet tooth and snap a cute dessert picture for social media.

Whether you are looking for coffee or tasty ice cream desserts, San Francisco has it all. Next time you visit the city be sure to try out one of these amazing dessert places; you won’t be disappointed!
