International Week Shines

 Bearcats celebrated diversity during International Week when performances by Poly Club, La Raza Unida, Brazilian Club and Philipino Club rocked the quad.

Feel The Peace

Peace Week was held from Oct. 5 through 9 here at San Mateo High School with lots of activities to celebrate and promote peace. Each of the five days had it’s own theme. The first day of Peace Week was Monday, the day of Hope. Tie-dye T-shirts and peace pins went on sale in the middle of the quad. There was also face painting and peace themed music. San Mateo is a place where we respect our peers and our teachers. We appreciate what we have and we show support to the people we care about. Peace Week, is a week symbolizing the love at San Mateo.         Peace Week took place from 10/5 to 10/9. There were many different activities everyday of the week. Spring Showcase Shows Sports

Gym rallies are a thing of the past — bearcats cheered on the spring sports on March 22 in the new PAC, where rallies, now to be called showcases, will be held from here on out. With a heartwarming introduction by Annika Johnson, the now cancer-free daughter of SMHS english teacher Mr. Nate Johnson and history teacher Ms. Kirsten Johnson, the showcase was filled with dancing, singing, and all entertainment in between. During lunch on Monday,  February 10, students and staff gathered around to watch International Week performances from the Indian and Belly Dancing Clubs. K-pop, La Raza Unida, Filipino and Poly clubs also performed during the annual week when Bearcats show pride in their native, ancestral, or adopted countries.

Mateo Celebrates International and Health Week

San Mateo will be celebrating the different cultures at our school during International Week on February 11 to 15. Students will be entertained with a week of cultural awareness activities with international perspectives. International week will kick off with a Fashion Show. Upperclassmen and lowerclassmen will sport their cultural outfits down the orange runway. The International Food Faire, always highly anticipated, will be on the second day. Get ready to see the various ethnicities of San Mateo High School during International Week.
