The International Food Fair has something for Everybody

  Hundreds of students enjoyed the mouthwatering food at the International Food Fair on the Spirit Lawn recently, helping nine clubs earn money for their activities. “One of my favorite parts of the food fair is how many options you had to choose from” said Brandon Lee, a ninth grader. The clubs served numerous kinds of food, including sweet bread, lumpia, chow mein, egg tarts, and churros. “It’s great because there’s something for everyone” said Brandon. “I’ve tried the churros that the Sophomore class council was serving, and even though they were from Costco, they were really good,” said Brandon. Conservationists at SMHS: Perspective from Cole Mefford

Cole Mefford is a man of many hats. The hats must be quite large because his mind is a vast encyclopedia of knowledge regarding environmental issues and ways to solve them. At school, he runs the Green Team with fellow junior Sabrina Jin. Outside of school, he helps educate visitors at the Monterey Bay Aquarium by interpreting exhibits for everyone to understand as well as help the Presidio Native Plant Nursery replant native plants back in california soil. Blowing Away at the Library

Carnegie Hall at the Library was on March 22,2017. One of the groups that performed was a Saxophone Quintet that was ironically performing a piece titled “Quartet for Saxophones”, by Lucien Cailliet. The group consists of Jason Li (9), Aahaan Rao (9), Emmanuel Cobian Duarte (9, back), Jason Zhong (9, front), and Theodore Pei (9). The groups that were performing had to first be adjudicated by a judge who makes comments and gives a score of Superior, Excellent, or Good.  Afterwards, the groups performed again at night in front of an audience in the Library.
