New PBS Video Features Abhaya Krishnan-Jha

San Mateo Journalists produced their fourth video for PBS this month, focusing on student Abhaya Krishnan-Jha and the experience of children of immigrants who blend two worlds. Produced by Editor Ariel Seidman, Camerapersons Nic Wratten and Cindy Zhang, and Sound Engineer Angie Neta, the two-minute video won pride of place on the “New Americans” site, appearing first in the upper left corner. Mock Trial Takes Bronze

San Mateo High has a lot of teams that are all very successful in their own right, but our very own Mock Trial team has been really raising the bar this year. During the last months of the calendar year, the Mock Trial team prepares to try a fictional case written by the Constitutional Rights Foundation. Beginning in January, teams from all over California’s northern district face off in real courtrooms. Competition is fierce, and only the best of 16 teams come out on top. Mike Masterson Passes Away from Cancer

San Mateo School Plant Operations Employee Michael Masterson, who went by “Mike,” passed away from cancer in November. “Mike was a truly positive, kind and thoughtful member of the bearcat family.
