No One Likes Rejection

During Stressbusters on April 29 on the Mateo football field, seniors who had experienced the pangs of rejection from dream schools and universities around the nation, had the chance to exchange their rejection letters in return for some treats to make them feel better (somewhat). Staff Appreciation Week is going on all this week, from April 26 to April 30. It is a week completely dedicated to thanking the teachers for all the hard work they put in to teaching us. There are special daily events happening this week in the teacher’s lounge for the teachers to enjoy. For example, there are special kinds of food provided for the teachers. Staff Appreciation Week only happens once a year so it is very special for the teachers. If you want to thank your teachers personally, you can get them a present yourself (or just tell them…

Most seniors let their students play an educational game, which adds to the fun….

Every 15 Minutes Hits Mateo With a Crash

On Thursday, April 24, everybody at San Mateo High School marched out to the bleachers by the football field to attend the first half of a two-part presentation called Every 15 Minutes. Every 15 Minutes is “an educational experience that reminds us all of the dangers associated with driving while impaired,” according to the official website. On the field, a grotesque car crash was unveiled. The mock accident included four of the students at our school, the San Mateo Fire Department, the San Mateo Police Department, the Coroner’s Office and many other officials–all of whom acted like it was a…
