March Madness

This year’s NCAA tournament was one of the greatest tournaments of all time. Many player’s brackets were busted after the first round because of the wild upsets that occurred. No one expected Michigan State losing in the first round or expected Hawaii to beat University of California. Some lower D-1 schools  reached the tournament for the first time in their school history. While schools like Cal State Bakersfield made their first appearance in the tournament, Yale shocked the college basketball world by defeating Baylor University. This March Madness was also filled with buzzer beaters like UCONN with the half court…

Bad (minton) To The Bone

It’s that time of the year again, with birdies flying and badminton season fast approaching. Students have finished conditioning and tryouts filled with laps, stretches and liners. The players have been working on footwork, agility and strength as a part of tryouts. Not many cuts were made as the team has decreased in size relative to last year. The Coed Varsity Badminton team made their best effort but weren’t able to successfully defeat Mills’ strong team on March 1. The team, however, has not lost hope and, with incredibly passionate players, believes the game is not all about winning. “I…

State Golf Champ Tells What It’s Like

It was a cold December morning in Monterey, CA.Every player  in the tourney had their game face on, making the scene a little tense. Once I walked onto the cold wet grass of the golf range, I had one goal in mind: “think positive today”, no matter what happens. My sister,Kiran, also competed in the same tournament. Kiran and I are not competitive with each other. We always root for each other and never say anything negative to one another. I love to play with my sister because I don’t feel pressured. My sister and I went into the clubhouse…
