Girls Soccer Starts Up

The soccer season this year is about to begin, starting with tryouts.

“You should join soccer because it’s a great workout,” said junior Genny Duran. “Some days we work on conditioning where we run a lot. We also do a ton of workouts that include doing touches on the ball and working on defensive and offensive strategies.”

Girls Soccer off to the CCS playoffs

The girls varsity soccer team finished their season winning nine games, losing four, and one tie. Our girls definitely proved themselves to other local schools in our district as being a threat, as they ended up beating big schools like Aragon and Hillsdale, but were not able to beat our rivals, Burlingame. Captain Page Rothschild and Katleyn Turtletaub, Katleyn being an elite player throughout the whole league, having the most goals out of everybody in their whole league, led the team. As another week goes by, we are coming closer and closer to the end of the season. This will be the 2nd to last week of soccer. Varsity boys are having a bit of a win/loss season going. After an amazing win against Jefferson they suffered a 0-2 loss against South San-Fransisco on Wednesday. Boys Frosh-Soph is trying to continue their winning streak after their loss against Half-Moon bay last week. Varsity Out to Prove Its Skill

The boy’s varsity soccer started off their season with a record of 5 wins,one loss, and one tie as of January 27 2011. In the preseason, they were very dominant, beating many teams and they look to do so during the season. They look to improve and will try not to lose games by working harder during practice to improve the team’s flaws. The varsity team has also added many more great players. This year’s girls’ soccer is very competitive. Everyone is doing good and playing their soccer. This year, people were playing soccer very well and really hit the field. Unlike boys’ soccer, there weren’t as many cuts in girls’ soccer. Everyone was very good and there are high hopes for the upcoming season.
