Splashing Into a New Season

Our Bearcats are preparing for another water polo season, strapping on their caps and jumping into the deep end. The girls and boys water polo teams are back and are preparing for a season full of competition. Our Lady Bearcats Varsity team has changed a lot since last year. Many of the experienced players graduated,  leaving the team with five returning players for this year’s season. Girls WoPo continues to only have a varsity team because of the lack of participants. SMHS Sports Kicks-Off

Athletes, coaches and parents filled the bleachers for the Fall sports meeting last month.  “We are looking forward to a great season with your kids.” Said Mr.Boise, the assistant principal to the athletes, parents of athletes and coaches from sports such as boys and girls water polo, football, volleyball, cheer, cross country, girls golf and girls tennis. Not all of the athletes attending were on a team, yet. Some were still being judged by coaches at the time of the meeting. Fall football starts again, with new goals, new players and new fans. One of the most popular sports on campus is football. San Mateo High School has two football teams, varsity and junior varsity. Packed with energy, boys from all grades are ready to take the season head on. Ready to lead the varsity football team to victory, Mr. Scheller the head coach says, “The team is coming along good!
