SMHS Concert Dedicated to Nancy Cordero

Brain Cancer Ribbon

The Music Department’s Winter Concert, taking place on December 5, 2012 will be dedicated to Nancy Cordero, a SMHS student who passed away this week. A table will be set up for people to donate either to Nancy’s funeral costs or to cancer research, depending on the need of the time. “Either way, donations will make the lives of others easier. So please donate if possible,” said Band Director Michael Beery. Students from all band classes will perform in the Winter Concert this Wednesday at 7pm in the gym. JSA Members Go to the Fall State Overnight Convention

Akshaya Natarajan, a junior and leader of SMHS’ JSA chapter, organized our school’s trip to the Fall State convention. A “chapter” refers to an individual school’s club. The convention was located at a Marriot in Santa Clara, California. Over 800 JSA members attended from Northern California’s JSA chapters. There were so many debate topics, the possibilities felt endless. During breakfast, lunch, and dinner, students could decide to walk to any restaurant they wanted to go to and were encouraged to make new friends from other JSA chapters. In the near future, people may soon put their lives into the hands of technology. Now that California, Nevada, and Florida have passed laws permitting driverless cars in September 2012, these cars will likely be extremely rampant. Many different car developers, like Google and Nisan, are developing self-driven cars. Nisan’s development of the vehicle would have outstanding new sensory technology to automatically steer the car away from pedestrians crossing the car’s path if the driver fails to do so themself.
